4 Pieces of Advice for College-Aspiring Players
4 Pieces of Advice for College-Aspiring Players
1️⃣ Climate & Lifestyle
Think about where you’ll actually live for the next 4 years. Can you handle the cold winters in the Northeast? The heat and humidity of the South? Climate impacts training, recovery, and day-to-day happiness.
2️⃣ Academics First
Soccer is a chapter, but your degree lasts a lifetime. Choose a school that fits your academic goals — not just your athletic ambitions. Make sure the major you want is strong at that university.
3️⃣ Distance from Home
Be honest about how far you’re comfortable going. Some players thrive across the country, others need to be closer to family support. Both are valid — but know yourself before committing.
4️⃣ The Right Soccer Fit
It’s not just about level (DI, DII, DIII, NAIA). It’s about the right coach, culture, and program size for you. Ask yourself: Do I see myself here even if soccer ended tomorrow? If the answer is yes, you’re on the right track.
The journey to college soccer is about finding the right all-around fit, not just chasing the biggest name.
