It's time to go, kid.

it’s time to go. And what a wonderful journey you’ve begun.

I’d be amiss not to say it — when you came to us, you cried at every session (I know that story gets old!) and now look at you. What would today’s version of you say to that kid, I wonder? Maybe it would be kind and heartfelt, to stick with it, you're going to achieve.

Massive acknowledgment to @uda.soccer for seeing your potential. It truly takes a village. In retrospect, I wonder if we’d have made so many steps without you being part of it. There’s not a kid in the club who doesn’t know you — and not one who doesn’t look up to you.

You’ve been the consummate leader, a slice of our history as club captain. You led with grace and fire, giving advice and, most enjoyably for us staff, joining in with the younger players whenever you could. That kindness, that connection — it’s a reflection of our values lived out.

As I write this, I realize the answer is no: we wouldn’t be here without you.

I hope you remember the moments as big as the wins. I hope you remember Chelsea fondly, and our trip to Rome that shaped your desire to play abroad. I’ll never forget watching you play your heart out against Chelsea and Lazio, keeping the coolness only a born leader can in moments of pressure.
This isn’t goodbye. I cannot wait to watch you play in England — and see what a new backdrop will bring you.

Take care kid.

Forever a Bluebonnet.
