Bluebonnets take 3 Point Away to AHFC

June 29th 2018

Marlyn Campa opened the scoring on Wednesday night at Tully Stadium with a delicate chip over the Albion Royals Goalkeeper.

The game frantic and fast paced stayed 1-0 until half time with constant pressure aerially from a solid and well organized Albion side. The pressure was broken by intricate attacking play by the away side.

A nervy second half started with a barrage of corners and set pieces from Albion who looked to even the score, coming close from several corners.

In the 55th minute the Bluebonnets were released down the left hand side from pacey winger Sam Vestal orchestrating the break. The ball eventually fell to Jessica Brooksby who struck home from distance with clinical technique and accuracy to see the away team go 2-0 up.

The Royals put on the pressure for 35 minutes with set piece after set piece. Fortunately for the away side, the ball did not bounce the way of the home team.

Brooksby hit the post on 86 minutes after link up play starting with Brianna Woodall at right back reached the opposition 3rd.

"I think you have to be able to weather the storm and play. I am pleased that we managed to play together and get a win away from home. We continue to play well in patches, we need to extend those in order to be looking further ahead" Said Head Coach Dave Puro.

This means the pressure is on for the Bluebonnets to defend their South Texas Conference Title by taking 7 points from last 3 matches.

TTi will host Lonestar this Saturday night, June 30th at SJCC.
